PTR Excursion 2018-19 Berlin:

Memories of a Nonviolent Revolution.

In the academic year 2018-2019, the Amsterdam Centre for Religion and Peace & Justice Studies traveled with the Master Specialization: Peace, Trauma, and Religion to Berlin, Germany. Although Berlin is not a case of a ‘hot conflict’, the current society is characterized by the many memories about what happened before, during, and after the Berlin Wall was brought down by a nonviolent revolution. The theme of refugees and the rise of right-wing tendencies was another important topic during the excursion, to understand the current social and political reality in Germany. Religion and religious beliefs have played and continue to play a role in all these issues, even in this secularized city.
